Counseling for Women
Life is messy, and as human beings we are messy, imperfect and beautiful all in one. As Jon Kabat-Zinn says, we are the “full-catastrophe.” Knowing this, or coming to know this how do we live a more present and fulfilling existence? How do we align our values so that we live from that soulful place? Is it possible to re-parent ourselves and live into a life of grace, vulnerability, courage and compassion?
Some ways we can heal both individually and in relationship is by traveling the brave path of discovering our values, boundaries, vulnerabilities, shame, talents, and attachment styles.
I have experienced both personally and professionally that it is essential to find a safe place to work on these aspects of ourselves in order to heal and transform. It is possible to transform beliefs and habitual patterns. Yet it can be hard to change, and it can take time. I believe with self-compassion anyone can move from feeling stuck, anxious, angry and/or depressed, to freedom, inner peace and radical acceptance of all life has to offer.
I can support you on this journey.
Many of the women I work with are experiencing the challenges and joys of new motherhood. Many are struggling during the postpartum period and are seeking support reducing stress and anxiety. Other clients are suffering from devastating loss or are at a place in their grieving when they feel the need to reach out for additional support.
My psychotherapeutic approach stems from a mind/body perspective and integrates Gestalt therapy and Somatic Experiencing. I believe in the power of integrating mindfulness tools and practices to help individuals discover their own innate ability to navigate through life’s bumps and roller-coasters. The foundation of my practice is an collaborative one that, at times, involves working with my horses as coaching partners to encourage healing.
